Overall fun to get more of the feel for what the women's live could have been like. Otherwise some of the concepts will be difficult to follow - for example, Tamar's need to sleep with her father-in-law etc. Amazing, amazing stories featuring women of the Bible. It definitely brought these women from the Bible alive in a new way for me. One of the things I really appreciate about her writing is the way she intertwines Scripture into the stories, not word for word, but enough that I could find the verses if I looked a minute or two.
This is all five stories via five women and how they find the grace of the Lord including the lineage of Jesus Christ. Do I really trust Him and His purpose? If you love to learn about the women of the Bible, this is a book you should dig into.

Francine Rivers tells their stories in such a heart warming way. One thing I love about the Bible is that it doesn't shy away from people's faults. Although this is fiction, I was really impressed with all of her insights and observations about very familiar Bible stories. What some readers may recognize as the books Unveiled, Unashamed, Unshaken, Unspoken, and Unafraid are now all firmly ensconced in one cover for your reading pleasure. Loved how the author made their stories relatable and personable while staying true to the Bible's account.
It was amazing to see what these women went through on a daily basis just to survive. It was more of a retelling with a fictional aspect but she alwaysdoes an amazing job. If you love to learn about the women o I was well into the fourth novella before I realized how Francine Rivers had woven all of these books together.
It has been quite some time since I've read this. It's no wonder they are listed in the blood line of Christ. Did she know David all her life? It was difficult to read it side by side with the Bible story because it was easy to confuse the two. You do learn a valuable lesson in this story that deals with not only adultery, but murder and losing their son after all this scandal.

It is helpful, though, to remember that these biblical women were real people. Not a lot of information is in the Old Testament about the two women and the way Francine wove in historical information and their faith really inspired me.
Very well written, very intriguing. Because they were short, there wasn't time to develop a lot of character and plot outside of what is mentioned in the Bible, but I thought that made it nice to have fewer added details. Rivers does an excellent job of putting biblical allegory in laymen's terms and even includes studies at the end of each story. Overall, this book was a terrific read, and it was difficult for me to put it down, because it was easy, intriguing and engaging. Walking away from the book, I feel encouraged, strengthened and challenged myself to consider my life and how I am using in accordance with God's plan and purpose for my life?

It's well written and thought provoking. May God bless every person who uses there talents for the good of His Kingdom. Another author who does her historical homework and adds flesh to her characters. Rivers writing remains strong, insightful, beautiful and touching. Having never read any of Francine River's work before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I definitely this book.
This version also included a Bible study at the end of each story with the Biblical text included, which made it easy to see which parts came directly from the Bible. Francine Rivers has another book called Sons of Encouragement. However as you read the following stories, they are much more in depth and very well written.
